The conference aims to contribute to the development of Germany as a base for sustainable finance, as prescribed in October 2019 guidelines by the German government. The event has two primary goals: Firstly, higher visibility for the presentation of the report of the advisory board. In February 2019, an advisory board was established to provide guidance to the German government in developing a sustainable finance strategy. This conference serves as a platform to discuss those recommendations and to provide impetus for further dialogue with EU partner countries and the European Commission.
Secondly, the conference aims to further discussion of the EU's new action plan for sustainable finance. This is anticipated in late summer 2020 as part of the Green New Deal.
