The German EU Council Presidency also has a logo.
It’s a ribbon.
The ribbon looks a little like the number eight.
Or like a loop.

The ribbon also has a name.
It’s called a Möbius strip.
Because a scientist invented it.
That scientist was August Ferdinand Möbius.
That was in the year 1858.
So this ribbon is very old.

The Möbius strip is very famous today.
You can see it sometimes

  • in films,
  • in video games,
  • on images and
  • in books.

The logo also has special meanings:

  • Europe should have lots of good ideas.

    These ideas should help people,
so that everyone can live well.

  • All countries in Europe should work together,
and look out for one another –
so that everyone in Europe feels fine.
