Merkel and Rutte discuss Germany’s Council Presidency

Among other topics, the priorities of Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the EU were discussed. The focus was on combating the economic and societal consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, and thus also on the special meeting of the European Council on 17 and 18 July. Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Rutte also exchanged views on bilateral and international issues.
