Informal Meeting EU Justice Ministers: These topics are on the agenda

Under the motto “Together for Europe's recovery”, justice ministers from the EU's 27 member states will meet on 6 July for their informal videoconference.

German Minister of Justice Christine Lambrecht will open the event with a video statement welcoming participating delegations. Then, beginning at 9.20, participants will hold discussions on the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in liberal, constitutional democracies. This discussion will be led by Justice Minister Lambrecht. European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders will also provide remarks.

Beginning at 13.30, the livestream will resume when participants begin discussions on how to strengthen democracy during the COVID-19 pandemic and how to combat disinformation and hate speech. Justice Minister Lambrecht will again lead this discussion, and Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency Věra Jourová will provide remarks.

Justice Minister Lambrecht will hold a press conference on the day's discussions beginning at 16.30 with Commissioner Reynders.
