Agriculture and Fisheries Council: Reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) on the agenda

EU ministers of agriculture and fisheries held their first Council meeting in Brussels today under the German Presidency, where they discussed the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The meeting was followed by a press conference held by German Minister of Agriculture Julia Klöckner.

The meeting started with a public session of the conference at 10.00, which included a presentation of the work programme for the German Council Presidency by Minister of Agriculture Julia Klöckner.

Important topics for the meeting included the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in the EU and the “Farm to Fork” strategy that was presented to the European Commission on 20 May. The strategy aims to make food systems in Europe more sustainable.

The meeting was followed by a press conference of the German Presidency and a press conference of the Trio Presidency, together with their Portuguese and Slovenian counterparts.
