The Foreign Ministers of the 27 EU member states, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) are meeting virtually in Berlin on 14 December 2020 under the chairmanship of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell. The objective of the meeting is to make a tangible contribution to strengthening relations between the EU and the LAC region.

Focuses of the meeting include cooperation on the pandemic (the Immediate COVID 19 Response), climate protection (the Green Partnership) and the digital transformation (the Digital Alliance).

In addition, a number of side events are taking place on 14 and 15 December, including the Future Affairs Forum on geopolitical aspects of the digital revolution, a business event with the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry and a hybrid high-level panel discussion entitled “Preserving Social Cohesion in the COVID 19 Crisis: Towards an Agenda for EU LAC Cooperation”, as well as a high-level panel entitled “A Green Alliance: Building Bridges with the Caribbean for Resilience”.
