Faces of Europe, an outdoor exhibition in front of the German Embassy in Bratislava’s old town at the promenade of the Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava. Between old trees, 20 twin-printed large-format canvas portraits attached to wire ropes invite you to a walk in the open air. There are also local faces in Slovakia among the European facets. Faces of Europe is a cultural policy project run by Carsten Sander, a photographer living in Düsseldorf and Berlin. It was created in cooperation with the Federal Foreign Office on the occasion of Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2020 and is dedicated to the European public. Photographic artist Carsten Sander is taking an extraordinary trip across all 27 EU member states. His mission: 1,000 portrait photos of Europeans with different ethnic and social backgrounds, poor and rich, old and young. He photographs celebrities, politicians, athletes, people whom he happens to meet on the street all on an equal footing. 1000 faces of the European Union an outstanding demonstration of European sentiments and a work on peaceful coexistence, tolerance and shared values.
