“Fast-track digitalisation” due to the coronavirus pandemic: Working life and ways of working together have undergone significant changes lately, including at Europe’s public employment services. Mobile work, virtual meetings, digital collaboration and remote team management have suddenly become part of the daily working lives of many employees. The mobile world will be significantly shaped by the opportunities and challenges linked to future career counselling, especially regarding the use of social media and artificial intelligence. We should not underestimate the effects of the global pandemic on working life. We will discuss the topic of “The Future of Work”, which is one of the priorities of Germany's Presidency of the Council of the EU, and take a look at the ongoing digital transformation, which will continue to shape working lives and future jobs at public employment services.
