The transport sector is responsible for almost a quarter of EU-wide greenhouse gas emissions. It is also the only sector that has not yet significantly reduced its CO2 emissions. New cars with alternative, in particular electric, motors, are appearing on Europe’s roads almost every week, yet zero-emission trucks are still rare. At the same time, road freight transport is growing rapidly. Against this background, this event will focus on two core questions: What are the key technologies in relation to zero-emission trucks, are they already cost-effective today and ready for everyday normal use? What contribution can climate-friendly trucks make towards reaching the EU climate targets? What framework conditions must be created to help achieve the targets?
