In the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, discussions that initially focused primarily on the protection of older people have increasingly focused on the rights of older people, both at the national and international level. This deserves all the more attention since older people are the population group most affected by the pandemic. In 2017, the Lisbon UNECE Ministerial Declaration “A Sustainable Society for All Ages: Realizing the potential of living longer” set an important milestone in the discussion about the rights of older people at European level. The recent developments encourage us to take up and deepen this thread during the German EU Council Presidency. The German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, AGE Platform Europe and BAGSO (German National Association of Senior Citizens’ Organisations) are pleased to invite you to a jointly organised online conference.
