On 11 September, Peter Altmaier, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, will welcome a delegation from the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) headed by its President, Professor Koen Lenaerts. The delegation, which also included the German Advocate General Professor Juliane Kokott and the German Judge at the Court of Justice Professor Thomas von Danwitz, visited the Federal Government against the background of the German EU Council Presidency. The visit also included a colloquium on the response of European law to digitalisation, moderated by Parliamentary State Secretary, Elisabeth Winkelmeier-Becker. The main focus of the discussions between the CJEU delegation and the minister was on the great importance of shared European values, such as in particular the rule of law for individual citizens and companies in the European Union.

Within the Federal Government, the Economic Affairs Ministry is responsible for representing the Federal Republic of Germany at the Court of Justice of the European Union.
