This digital conference looks at current challenges facing music in the digital space. On 22 October 2020, participants from leading European institutions will discuss present challenges and possibilities for harnessing digital musical cultural heritage in the future. On the occasion of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday, they will explore the following questions: how and where would Beethoven publish music in 2020? How would he use digital archives and online platforms such as YouTube and Soundcloud? The touring exhibition “Inside Beethoven! The Walk-In Ensemble” will be presented alongside the conference (in Frankfurt: 30 July to 22 August; in Leipzig: 27 August to 3 November).
