Digital sovereignty is a crucial condition for administrative digitalization in Europe. Important software and hardware for operating systems and office communication continues to be sourced from outside the European Union.

This state of affairs is being critically reviewed, and not only since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and related discussions about supply chains and dependencies from suppliers outside the European Union. In June of this year, for example, France and Germany introduced their common initiative for a European Cloud.

How can the use of European products be more strongly promoted in the future? How can public administration help strengthen European software industries? Representatives of the German state of Bremen and their counterparts at the European level will discuss these questions. Bremen is one of the central locations for the development of alternatives to what are hitherto standard products.
