While the digital transformation has long been a factor in real-world migration, most European states are only beginning to analyse its impacts on migration and to develop digital governmental processes and policies. A need for further action results from the challenges posed by the corona pandemic and the obligation to implement Goal 1 of the Global Compact for Migration. At the two-hour virtual kick-off event, Migration 4.0, the whole spectrum of the digital transformation will be illustrated to participants, ranging from AI/machine learning applications for forecasting migration flows, to new communication channels and media (social media, virtual counselling, virtual diasporas), and digital migration management tools (facial and voice recognition, blockchain technology).
Target group: experts, policy advisors (member states/third countries)
Organiser: Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community
