The symposium asks how the cultural and creative industries, and in particular the arts, can help us master pressing societal challenges by reshaping the relationship between humans and digital technologies, identifying empathy as a driving force for technological development, and promoting innovations in all branches of industry. The symposium will bring together experts from the creative industries, art, technology, policymaking and industry in a hybrid format to discuss these questions and experiment with art and artificial intelligence. On the fifth anniversary of the European Commission’s S+T+ARTS – innovation at the nexus of Science, Technology, and the Arts initiative, the conference also marks the opening of the exhibition “near futures and quasi-worlds” at the STATE Studio in Berlin.
