The NIS cooperation group was established in accordance with the NIS Directive (Directive (EU) 2016/1148 of the European Parliament and the Council of 6 July 2016 concerning measures for a high common level of security of network and information systems across the Union). It is responsible for fostering strategic cooperation and information-sharing among member states. The cooperation group comprises representatives from member states, the Commission and ENISA. It meets twice a year. The current Council Presidency holds the chair of the cooperation group.
