From 8 to 10 October, the Academy of Arts (Akademie der Künste) invites representatives of European academies of arts and cultural institutions to lay the foundation for a European Alliance of Academies. The idea is to enable cooperation in the arts and culture and to actively shape the cultural diversity of European societies. When populists advocate retreat into national isolation, the Alliance of Academies seeks to strengthen cultural interaction and to join forces to turn the vision of a Europe united in diversity into reality. The Alliance’s manifesto reflects this and sets out specific commitments for the future. Translated into all European languages, the manifesto will be available on its own website and will invite other institutions to join and to participate in the cultural project that is Europe. The project is sponsored by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
